Christina Kim wins Lorena Ochoa Invitational!

Love this story! Especially after all she has been through and came out stronger!

'She didn't make it easy on herself, but Christina Kim withstood a challenge from Shanshan Feng on Sunday to complete a wire-to-wire win at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational. Here's the skinny from Mexico City:

Leaderboard: Christina Kim (-15), Shanshan Feng (-15), Inbee Park (-11), Brittany Lincicome (-9), So Yeon Ryu (-9), Pornanong Phatlum (-8)

What it means: It's Kim's third LPGA win and her first since Nov. 13, 2005, when she won the Mitchell Company Tournament of Champions. Kim, 30, also won the Longs Drugs Challenge in 2004.

Round of the day: Even though her 71 wasn't the lowest score, she made the shots when she had to to win, so you have to go with Kim here. While her pursuers were all under par, Kim played the front nine in even par. She lost the last shot of her five-shot, 54-hole lead when Feng chipped in for birdie on 15, but Kim responded with a birdie of her own at the 16th. Feng birdied the par-5 17th, and Kim answered with a clutch 4-footer for a birdie that gave her a one-shot lead going to the par-4 18th. After missing the green, she failed to get up and down, sending the tournament to a playoff. She looked cooked on the first extra hole when she left her first putt very short, but she made a clutch 4-footer to extend play. Then she was able to close out Feng with a routine par on the second extra hole.

Best of the rest: Feng's 66 was the day's low score. Feng started fast, making eagle on the par-5 second, then just kept chipping away at Kim's lead, birdieing 11 and 12 and chipping in for birdie to tie her on the 15th. After Kim re-gained the lead with a birdie on 16 and reached the par-5 17th in two, Feng hit a wedge in close and made a birdie there to match Kim and stay within one shot going to 18. Feng really didn't blink until the second extra hole, when she hit her tee shot left, under a tree, and chose to chip out backward. She couldn't save par, leaving Kim with two putts from medium range for the win.'
